Sports concussion research
At Children’s Health Andrews Institute, we’re constantly working to better understand how sports concussions affect young athletes and how we can help them recover faster. That’s why our doctors and specialists conduct sports concussion research. Our research focuses on developing faster, safer treatment plans to improve the recovery experience for athletes who’ve had a sports-related concussion.
Training and education
The Children's Health Andrews Institute (CHAI) Postdoctoral Fellowship in Sports Neuropsychology (APPIC #9243) was established in 2019 and offers a unique, comprehensive training experience in the assessment and treatment of acute sport-related concussions.
Fellows pursuing board certification have access to rotations in general pediatric and adult neuropsychology clinics throughout Children’s Health with our affiliates at UT Southwestern Medical Center, structured in accordance with Minnesota Conference guidelines. This training pathway prepares fellows for board certification in clinical neuropsychology while simultaneously developing specialty expertise in sports concussion care.
