Direct to OR for testicular torsion

For patients with testicular torsion, getting to the OR as fast as possible offers the best chance at protecting the testis. At Children’s Health, we’ve implemented a direct to OR protocol. Boys with symptoms, an exam and imaging consistent with testicular torsion are transferred directly to surgery without having to go through the ED. This saves time and improves the likelihood of healthy testis. Bruce Schlomer, M.D. addresses three issues that delay timely treatment.
