Ten-year-old leukemia patient Evan knows a couple of things about pitch and tone. In fact, most of the staff and Children's Health℠ have heard him playing throughout the hospital. From jamming out to his favorite pop star to practicing air guitar, Evan dreams of being the lead singer of his own band. Learn all about his studio and backup performers.

While kids are in the hospital, it’s important for them to maintain some normalcy. Be it Nerf gun wars, Mario Kart™ or EzyRoller races, Child Life Specialist Mary Van Meter made sure Evan could just be a kid and have some fun. She got to know Evan and his entire family so she could be a support system for Evan’s mom and dad, as well as a listening ear for Evan’s sister, Lauren.

Getting in tune with Evan’s care
At age 9, Evan Jurgensen was diagnosed with biphenotypic leukemia, a rare form of cancer. He started chemotherapy at the Pauline Allen Gill Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders in May 2015 and had a stem cell transplant on November 11. Today, Evan is doing better, bringing joy to everyone around him with his harmonious personality. Want to help kids like Evan?

Avenging the little superstar
Evan loves the Avengers, so it's no wonder his parents created Evan's Avengers T-shirts to raise awareness for Evan's blood and bone marrow drive. After finding the perfect donor, Evan spent 2 months at Children’s Medical Center Dallas. To make his stay more comfortable, Dec My Room decorated his room with Avengers gear. This little superhero sure is on his way to becoming a superstar.
Holiday Cheer
Pitching in to help other kids
From creating a pumpkin patch to holding an Easter egg hunt, Evan and his family try to spread joy around the holidays at Children's Health. In fact, Evan is already planning for a December celebration complete with fake snow, ornaments and, of course, lots of carols. It's just not a holiday without music.
