Endocrinology
“The future of pediatric endocrinology lies in the bold integration of discovery, technology and compassion. Academic programs like ours are shaping not only tomorrow’s breakthroughs, but tomorrow’s leaders. As one of the largest pediatric diabetes programs in the country, we offer a full range of individualized care programs covering everything from advanced diabetes technologies to immunologic interventions.”

PATIENT OUTCOMES
95% of children with Type 1 diabetes in our program use continuous glucose monitoring
85.5% of insulin pump users in our practice utilize hybrid closed-loop therapy
>90% of children with Graves’ disease achieved normal thyroid levels within 90 days of presentation.
KEY PROGRAMS
Diabetes
With responsibility for more than 2,500 children with diabetes, our program combines cutting-edge clinical care with community partnerships to ease the daily burden of diabetes management.
Oversees medical care at Camp Sweeney, the largest residential diabetes camp in the country, where more than 700 children learn intensive self-management skills, with longitudinal data showing sustained improvements in diabetes confidence and self-care behaviors
Metabolic Bone Clinic
Our Metabolic Bone Clinic combines advanced clinical care with translational discovery to improve skeletal health in children. The program delivers disease-modifying biologic therapies – vosoritide for achondroplasia, burosumab for X-linked hypophosphatemia and asfotase alfa for hypophosphatasia – ensuring access to targeted treatments for rare disorders that previously lacked options. Complementing these interventions, our research links youth-onset diabetes to fracture risk and examines early skeletal development in infants of mothers with diabetes, uncovering pathways that inform personalized surveillance and therapy. Together, these efforts exemplify precise endocrine care in practice.
Conducts studies of infants born to mothers with diabetes to reveal early pathways influencing bone development
Informs personalized monitoring and therapies for improved patient outcomes through translational findings
Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia
Our program is recognized as one of nine Comprehensive Care Centers in the U.S., placing us among a select number of pediatric endocrinology programs in the country dedicated to advanced care of congenital adrenal hyperplasia. We played a key role in the pivotal clinical trial of Crinecerfont, a study that ultimately secured U.S. FDA approval. This trial underscored our commitment to pioneering novel therapies and offering patients access to cutting-edge treatment options.
