Biography

Alexandra Idrovo, M.D., is board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics/Nephrology and works with children and families at Children's Health℠. As a pediatric nephrologist, Dr. Idrovo takes care of children who are experiencing acute kidney injury, those who need renal replacement therapy, and those with chronic kidney disease (CKD). She is passionate about helping children with chronic kidney disease reach their full potential. 

Dr. Idrovo earned her medical degree from the University of Guayaquil. She completed her pediatric residency at Cook County Health and Hospitals in Chicago, Illinois. She went on to complete a pediatric nephrology fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.

Dr. Idrovo says she enjoys working at Children’s Health and believes that care is best provided with collaboration across specialties and in a multidisciplinary manner. 

She is a member of the American Society of Pediatric Nephrology and the American Society of Nephrology. Dr. Idrovo is the recipient of several awards, including being recognized as a “Top Doc,” which is awarded for best pediatric care, and was awarded the best pediatric research abstract by a physician from the International Dialysis Congress.

As a lecturer and publisher, Dr. Idrovo has presented at national and international conferences. She most recently presented on worsening myocardial strain with preserved cerebral oxygenation in pediatric chronic hemodialysis. She has published papers in the Journal of the American Society of Nephrology and the Journal of Cardiovascular Imaging on the topics of myocardial strain and left ventricular and left atrial strain.
