Biography
Van Nguyen, RN, MSN, CPNP has always worked with children as either a registered nurse or pediatric nurse practitioner. She enjoys helping children achieve better health so they can grow up strong, even when facing a chronic medical condition.
Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) Nguyen is a certified pediatric nurse practitioner at Children’s Health. She cares for children with intestinal failure and other gastrointestinal conditions. She provides advanced care for children who need enteral and/or parenteral nutrition. PNP Nguyen previously worked in allergy and immunology as well as in peri-operative services. Prior to working with Children’s Health, she was a nursing instructor at Albuquerque Public Schools Career Enrichment Center training new nurses in the healthcare field. PNP Nguyen has experience in the simulation lab, working with students in an environment that simulates real time events providing hands on experience for nursing students.
PNP Nguyen received her Bachelor and Master of Science in Nursing degrees from the University of New Mexico. She is licensed and certified by the Board of Nurse Examiners and the National Certification Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners & Nurses.
Her professional affiliations include: National Association of Pediatric Nurse Associates and Practitioners (NAPNAP) and Greater Texas Chapter of National Association of Pediatric Nurse Associates and Practitioners.
PNP Nguyen has delivered professional presentations on gastroenterology, allergy and immunology. She was involved nationally with the Allergy and Asthma Network providing anaphylaxis awareness in the community. PNP Nguyen currently serves as a manuscript reviewer for the Journal of Pediatric Health Care and is a writer and reviewer for the pediatric nurse practitioner primary care certification exam. She currently conducts research into malabsorption in children with intestinal failure. She also serves on a hospital committee to prevent central line infections, helping improve patient safety at Children’s Health.
PNP Nguyen speaks and writes fluently in Vietnamese. She was a 2017 nominee for the Advanced Practice Professional Excellence and Accountability Award. She enjoys spending time with her husband and two young boys camping and hiking.
