Biography

Alexandra Pottorff, M.D., is a Pediatric Gastroenterologist at Children’s Health℠ and an Assistant Professor at UT Southwestern. She specializes in gastrointestinal conditions related to cystic fibrosis (CF), nutrition and improving access to care.

“I’m passionate about pediatric gastroenterology because digestive health plays a vital role in a child’s growth, development and overall quality of life,” Dr. Pottorff says. “Helping children feel better, thrive and reach their full potential is deeply fulfilling to me.”

Dr. Pottorff is also passionate about finding ways to improve care beyond the bedside. She looks to challenges she encounters while caring for patients as opportunities to innovate, improve health care systems and pursue quality improvement and research that can lead to better care for children.

Dr. Pottorff earned her medical degree from UT Southwestern Medical Center. She completed her Pediatrics residency at Boston Children’s Hospital and Boston Medical Center and her Pediatric Gastroenterology fellowship at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She also earned a Master of Public Health from UTHealth Houston School of Public Health.

Her research interests include health care access, newborn screening and hepatobiliary involvement in cystic fibrosis. Her honors and professional activities include the UT Southwestern-Parkland Health Equity Scholar Program, the Child and Adolescent Population Health Program, DFW Finest and a Cystic Fibrosis Clinical Fellow Grant.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Pottorff loves to read and explore independent bookstores throughout North Texas.
