Corinne Anton, PhD, ABPP, directs the Cardiac Neurodevelopmental Program at Children’s Health℠ and is The Heart Center’s dedicated psychologist. She is also an Assistant Professor of psychiatry at UT Southwestern.
When a child is born with a heart problem, it can affect how their brain develops — which can change how they learn and develop. By identifying learning challenges and other issues as early as possible, Dr. Anton is able to support her patients to help them reach their full potential.

Dr. Anton’s role extends to helping patients cope with heart failure and their ventricular assist devices so they receive the support they need to stay healthy and follow their treatments. In a partnership with the UT Southwestern Center for Depression Research and Clinical care, she helped implement an electronic mental health screening system for anxiety, depression and adherence. This allows the heart failure/transplant team and Fontan program to identify patients who could benefit from psychological and psychiatric support.
Dr. Anton educates and trains the next generation of providers by working with psychology students, interns and fellows. She is actively involved in psychology research. Her interests include neurodevelopmental outcomes among congenital heart disease patients, with a focus on fetal risk factors, longitudinal impacts of electronic device use and physical activity on neurocognitive outcomes.
Dr. Anton received her doctoral degree from the American Psychological Association (APA) accredited clinical psychology doctoral program at the University of Arkansas. Her doctoral training focused on adult and adolescent interventions with a variety of diagnoses and clinical presentations. She then completed her postdoctoral fellowship in clinical child psychology at Children’s Health. She is board certified in Behavioral and Cognitive Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology.
Dr. Anton has received the Psychological Services Peer Recognition Award multiple times and has been an invited attendee at the Emerging Leader Acceleration Program at Children’s Health.
