Biography

Samir Zaid Kaylani, M.D., is a Pediatric Hematologist-Oncologist at Children’s Health℠ and an Associate Professor at UT Southwestern. He has a special interest in treating patients with sickle cell disease, bleeding disorders, clotting disorders, anemia, thrombocytopenia and leukopenia.

Dr. Zaid Kaylani  earned his medical degree at Jordan University of Science and Technology. He completed his residency in pediatrics at Texas Tech University and gained advanced training in pediatric hematology and oncology through a fellowship at the University of Alabama in Birmingham.

Dr Zaid Kaylani conducts research about blood disorders where children have issues related to sickle cell disease and its various complications. He is directly involved in patient requiring frequent blood transfusions related to strokes in these children. He has also studied the impact of splenectomy, surgical spleen removal, and its trends nationwide on patients with low platelet count due to immune related causes.

Outside of work, Dr. Zaid Kaylani enjoys spending time with his family, playing the piano and gardening.
