Mariella Lapuz Garza, APRN, PNP-PC $$

Mariella L. Garza, CPNP-PC, is a certified pediatric nurse practitioner at Children’s Health℠ who cares for children who are deaf and hard of hearing.

Garza earned a Master of Science in Nursing from Texas Woman’s University in Dallas in 2016, focusing on pediatric primary care. In 2009, she completed a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Texas Woman’s University.

At Children’s Health, Garza practices in the Pediatric Ear, Nose and Throat department and the Family-Focused Center for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Children.

She cares for a variety of conditions among young patients with hearing loss, including language delay, middle ear disorder and Microtia and Aural Atresia.

Garza works with children, families and physicians to provide support, education and access to community resources. She provides complex care management for children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. She is certified in Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support.

Garza is a member of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and the Center to Advance Palliative Care. Her research projects include Pediatric Autoimmune Related Sensorineural Hearing Loss and the Prevalence of Academic Underachievement in Children with Unilateral Sensorineural Hearing Loss.

Outside the clinic, Garza enjoys volunteering with Equest, an organization that uses horses to offer therapeutic activities for children and adults with disabilities and special needs.
