What is pediatric urinary urgency and/or frequency?

Urinary urgency means that a child gets a sudden, strong urge to urinate. Urinary frequency means that a child needs to use the restroom more frequently than usual.

What are the signs and symptoms of pediatric urinary urgency and/or frequency?

• Bed wetting

• Daytime wetting (incontinence) 

• Getting a sudden need to urinate or need to urinate more frequently than usual

What are the causes of pediatric urinary urgency and/or frequency?

• Leakage of urine from the urethra (tube that carries urine from the bladder outside the body)

• Swelling and infection of the urethra

• Urinary tract infection (UTI)

• Vaginitis (swelling or discharge of the vulva and vagina)
