Cardiologist Surendranath Veerem Reddy, M.D., and our team prepared for a lymphatic/thoracic duct embolization procedure, in which the entire thoracic duct was to be embolized, or sealed shut. However, we received a unique case.Together with another hospital, our team performed a balloon angioplasty of the thoracic duct, resolving major areas of stenosis and significantly improving blood flow in the thoracic duct for the patient. Dr. Reddy and our cardiac catheterization and intervention team continue to strive to expand our program to provide greater access to these procedures and treatments for the children of North Texas.CARDIOMYOPATHY EXPERTISE The Childrens Cardiomyopathy Foundation (CCF) named Childrens Health as an accreditedcenter of care. A designated CCF-accredited center of care provides high-quality cardiac care and specialized disease management to children with cardiomyopathy. Accreditation from CCF is based on self-reported hospital data, which is evaluated on the volume of pediatriccardiomyopathy patients, variety of pediatric patient services offered, expertise in the treatment and management of cardiomyopathy in children, and affiliation with an academic researchinstitution. In addition, Childrens Health has been designated as a Center of Excellence by the Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Association (HCMA), making it one of 30 Centers of Excellence nationwide and the first designated center in North Texas. We are one of only three hospitals with pediatric programs in the U.S. to receive this designation.49|The Heart Center Annual Report 2018 childrens.com/heart|49'
