b'ELECTROPHYSIOLOGYWith unparalleled expertise in evaluating, diagnosing and treating pediatric and adolescent heart rhythm abnormalities, our team of board-certified pediatric electrophysiologists deliver success rates that exceed the national average. Technology and innovation have enhanced our ability to perform electrophysiological diagnostic and therapeutic interventions accurately and effectively, while minimizing patient exposure to radiation. In fact, we have one of the largest-volume pediatric centers in the country for invasive electrophysiology studies and pacemaker/defibrillator implants.Highlights of the Arrhythmia and Pacing Service at Childrens Health: UNDERSTANDING ABNORMALITIESWe use advanced imaging capabilities such as CT/MRI overlay scan to improve our understanding of the complex electroanatomical substrates of our patients.T ECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION Our electrophysiology suites are equipped with state-of-the-art fluoroscopy equipment, including flat-panel screens. With Navex/EnSite 3-D mapping system technology, we can navigate our catheters precisely. MINIMAL RADIATION EXPOSUREUsing new 3-D mapping technology, we can safely see a patients heart, allowing for minimal radiation exposure. This has resulted in a more than threefold reduction in fluoroscopy times. RESEARCH Our ongoing commitment to research is helping advance the standard of care for inherited arrhythmia syndromes, including cardiac channelopathies (long QT syndrome, CPVT, ARVD, Brugada syndrome), Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome and the muscular dystrophies. 36|The Heart Center Annual Report 2018 childrens.com/heart|36'
