Biography

Faheem Mahomed, M.D., is a Pediatric Physiatrist at Children’s Health℠ and an Assistant Professor of Pediatric Rehabilitation at UT Southwestern. He specializes in caring for children with conditions that affect movement and function, including cerebral palsy (CP), neuromuscular disorders, limb differences, spinal conditions such as spina bifida and spinal cord injury, and brain injury. 

His expertise includes spasticity and tone management, mobility and gait, assistive technology, bracing, and prosthetic and orthotic management to help children become more comfortable, independent and active in their daily lives. He works closely with therapists, orthopedic surgeons, neurosurgeons, neurologists and other specialists to provide comprehensive, team-based care.

“Pediatric physiatry is about meeting a child where they are and helping them go further — toward more movement, more independence, and fuller participation in the things they love, whatever that looks like for them. Seeing that growth is why I do this,” Dr. Mahomed says.

Dr. Mahomed earned his medical degree from the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Medicine. He then completed his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at UT Health San Antonio, followed by a fellowship in pediatric rehabilitation medicine at University of California, Davis Health and Shriners Hospitals for Children.

Dr. Mahomed’s research interests include advanced spasticity and tone management, exercise for children with disabilities and mobility differences, and adaptive sports.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Mahomed enjoys soccer, basketball, weightlifting, traveling, cooking and perfecting pizza recipes, and spending time with his family.
