Biography

Katherine M. Turner, P.A., is a physician assistant at Children’s Health℠ who cares for children who have disorders of the ear, nose and throat.

Katherine earned her master of physician assistant studies in 2012 at UT Southwestern School of Health Professions. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in biomedical science from Texas A&M University in 2009.

At Children’s Health, Katherine works closely with surgeons and other providers on the inpatient and outpatient otolaryngology team. She evaluates and treats children who have illnesses affecting the ear, nose and throat. She performs procedures and coordinates care of these children.

Katherine also has experience providing care for patients who have cancer and blood disorders. She worked closely with oncologists and other providers on the inpatient oncology unit, caring for the medical needs of these children, directing administration of chemotherapy and complications thereof.

At UT Southwestern, Katherine worked with a medical team that provided care for people in need of lung transplants. Her duties included daily patient exams, ordering and interpretation of lab tests and diagnostic imaging, and the development of treatment plans. She was also involved in the procurement of donor lungs.

Katherine is certified through the Texas Physician Assistant Board and the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. She is also certified in advanced cardiac life support and pediatric advanced life support.

Katherine has made several presentations to professional groups. Topics included “After the Cancer Experience: What to Expect as a Primary Care Provider,” “CAR-T Cell Immunotherapy” and “Non-Medical Supportive Care for Oncology Patients and Their Families.”

She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, the Texas Academy of Physician Assistants, and the Society for Physician Assistants in Pediatrics.
