New hope for hyperlipoproteinemia: Weight loss drug reduces TG levels by 50%

In a recent pilot trial, researchers at Children’s Health and UT Southwestern discovered that an FDA-approved weight loss drug called orlistat reduced blood triglyceride levels by more than 50% in T1HLP patients. Now the researchers are planning a larger trial to study orlistat’s long-term efficacy and safety in children and adults.
