Biography
Gijo Alex, M.D., is a pediatric anesthesiologist at Children’s Health℠ and an Associate Professor of Anesthesiology and Pain Management at UT Southwestern.
Dr. Alex earned his medical degree at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He subsequently completed an anesthesiology residency at New York Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York City and then completed a fellowship in pediatric anesthesiology at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
Dr. Alex’s interests include pediatric regional anesthesia and understanding the effects of anesthesia on the developing brain. He has authored numerous research articles, book chapters and has been invited to give presentations both regionally and nationally.
Outside of work, Dr. Alex enjoys spending time with his wife and three children.

Dr. Alex’s research interests include understanding the effects of anesthesia on the developing brain, the perioperative complications associated with COVID-19, and emerging techniques in pediatric regional anesthesia.
