Biography
Matthias Wolf, M.D., is a pediatric nephrologist at Children’s Health℠ who specializes in kidney stones, cystic kidney disease, uromodulin-storage disease/nephronophthisis, renal tubular acidosis and electrolyte, magnesium and calcium abnormalities.
I hope that one day my research efforts will pay off by improving my patients' lives.
After earning his medical degree from Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz in Germany, Dr. Wolf completed several residencies in pediatrics and neonatal-perinatal medicine at children’s hospitals in Germany and the U.S. He also completed two fellowships in research at the University of Michigan Hospitals and Health Centers in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and a pediatric nephrology fellowship at Children's Medical Center Dallas.
Dr. Wolf's clinical and research interests include regulation of renal ion channels by urinary proteins, the impact of ion channel dysregulation on the development of diabetes mellitus, the genetics of kidney disorders, kidney stones and hypercalciuria (impact of urinary proteins) and treatment for uromodulin storage disease.
"I really appreciate the interactions with my patients," Dr. Wolf says. "They inspire and motivate me to improve patient outcomes by performing research. I enjoy being at the interface between patient care and research. I hope that one day my research efforts will pay off by improving my patients' lives."
Dr. Wolf enjoys spending his free time with his cats, biking, hiking in West Texas, attending classical concerts or an opera, visiting an art exhibition at the Kimbell Art Museum or going to a beer garden.
